Just Down the Road: 3 Local Parks Near Levittown, NY

1. Eisenhower Park

This expansive park is accessible from 1899 Park Boulevard and sprawls over 930 acres, easily making it one of Nassau County’s largest recreational areas. It’s no surprise, then, that it offers countless things to do. Among its facilities are more than a dozen tennis courts, two pickleball courts, two cricket fields, and a full-sized basketball court. The park even hosts three 18-hole golf courses and two 18-hole miniature golf courses.
Fitness enthusiasts will love that Eisenhower Park’s two-mile-long fitness trail features 20 fitness stations that offer a number of ways to exercise. On the western side of the park, you’ll find Salisbury Lake and the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, hosting everything from concerts to film screenings during the summer. Visitors may pay their respects at two beautiful memorials that honor veterans and the victims of 9/11.

2. West Hills County Park

West Hills provides residents of central Long Island with the opportunity to surround themselves with beautiful nature without having to make a long drive. The park’s numerous nature trails will take you through a dense mixed-deciduous forest where you can view a variety of flowering shrubs and ferns. Jayne’s Hill, Long Island’s highest point at around 400 feet, can be reached by taking the especially scenic Walt Whitman Trail.
Certain trails allow for horseback riding with a permit, so feel free to make use of your RAM 1500’s 12,750-pound towing capacity and bring your horse trailer along. DDR Farm on 412 Sweet Hollow Road is located inside West Hills and provides access to the stables. Parking for hikers can be found at 220 Sweet Hollow Road.

3. Mansfield Park and the Massapequa Preserve

Located on 85 Walker Street, Mansfield Park, also known as Walker Park, is home to well-maintained soccer and baseball fields where you can watch Massapequa Soccer League and Little League games. It also serves as a main access point for the enchanting Massapequa Preserve, a 432-acre area that contains a dense forest, several ponds, and the Massapequa Creek.
The preserve features trails for hiking and biking, and its plentiful shade makes it a great getaway during the summer. Picnicking areas with grills and fishing spots can be found throughout the area.
